LegacyFX Review 2026
The Scorecard
Quick Take on LegacyFX
Operating since 2017 with headquarters in Mauritius, LegacyFX is a market-maker brokerage offering CFD trading in foreign exchange, equities, indices, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Regulatory oversight is split geographically between an offshore entity licensed by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission (FSC) and a European firm authorized in Cyprus by CySEC. Retail funds are held in segregated client bank accounts protected by negative balance protection, though accounts opened through Mauritius do not participate in an investor compensation scheme.
All trading is routed exclusively through MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web, and mobile interfaces. Account entry requirements are notably high, starting at a $500 minimum deposit for the baseline Standard tier and extending to $50,000 for VIP status. Standard forex pairs trade commission-free, but baseline pricing starts wide, averaging 1.6 pips on EUR/USD. The broker supports automated Expert Advisors, copy trading, and swap-free Islamic accounts, but does not provide direct API connectivity or native VPS hosting.

Can You Trust LegacyFX?
2.7/5Who Regulates LegacyFX?
LegacyFX provides services through regional corporate entities subject to different regulatory frameworks. Its primary international branch is located in Ebene, Mauritius, where it is authorized by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) under license number 188317, which functions as a Tier-3 supervisor. For European clients, the brand maintains an entity licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). Because legal rights, regulatory protections, and complaint channels differ between these bodies, traders should confirm which entity is onboarding their account.
How Your Money Is Protected
Customer deposits are kept in segregated bank accounts isolated from LegacyFX's corporate operational funds. This separation prevents client funds from being tapped to satisfy day-to-day business liabilities. The broker also applies negative balance protection across all accounts, guaranteeing balances cannot fall below $0.00 during sudden market gaps. Crucially, retail clients registered under the offshore Mauritius FSC entity do not receive statutory investor compensation scheme protection, unlike European clients protected under CySEC's Investor Compensation Fund.
Company Background and Track Record
Founded in 2017, LegacyFX is a privately held brokerage that is not publicly traded on any exchange. The firm acts primarily as a market maker, handling internal risk and trade routing across multiple asset classes. Account administrative tasks are managed through a proprietary web portal known as the Client Area, while headquarters and core operations remain based in Mauritius.
LegacyFX Fees Explained
2.8/5Trading Costs
For currencies, commodities, and index CFDs, LegacyFX bundles execution expenses into its floating spreads. Standard tiers carry wide entry-level markups, whereas narrower pricing requires higher upfront capital commitments. Trading single stock CFDs incurs an explicit commission charge of approximately 0.45% per transaction.
| Asset | Typical Spread | Commission | Estimated Trading Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 1.6 pips | $0 | $16.00 per lot |
| Gold | 0.63 points | $0 | $63.00 per lot |

Trading Platforms and Technology
3.6/5MetaTrader 5
All trading at LegacyFX runs through MetaTrader 5 (MT5), available as a desktop client, browser-based web application, and mobile software. The terminal provides multi-asset market access, market-depth views, interactive charting, and a library of technical indicators. Rather than developing a bespoke proprietary trading terminal, LegacyFX pairs MT5 with an in-house web portal known as the Client Area for account funding and administrative oversight.
Mobile Trading
Mobile access relies on official MetaTrader 5 apps for Android and iOS devices. The mobile client allows traders to track live market prices, manage active positions, execute orders, and apply technical chart studies from smartphones or tablets.
Execution and Trading Tools
Orders are routed through a market-maker model fed by institutional pricing streams, without dealing desk intervention during active market movement. Fills take place at the best available market rate or the nearest available quote, meaning volatile market conditions can result in slippage. The broker permits hedging, scalping, and news trading without applying automated position-closing restrictions.
Algorithmic and Copy Trading
Automated strategies are accommodated via MetaTrader 5's MetaEditor environment, allowing traders to compile Expert Advisors (EAs) using MQL5. The broker does not support raw external API connections, such as FIX or REST protocols. Copy trading is supported through MT5's integrated signal replication tools, while social ideas and technical trend charting are supplemented by TradingView community integrations. LegacyFX does not provide native VPS hosting.
Markets You Can Trade

Information on this area is not publicly disclosed regarding additional asset classes beyond CFDs.
Leverage, Margin and Risk Controls
Maximum Leverage
Forex leverage at LegacyFX reaches up to 1:200 for retail clients. Margin parameters differ across market sectors to account for underlying volatility: commodities and indices are capped at 1:100 leverage, precious metals at 1:100, while stock CFDs and cryptocurrencies are restricted to 1:5. Actual leverage limits also reflect account tiers and jurisdiction, with European accounts under CySEC subject to lower regulatory leverage limits.
Margin Calls and Stop-Out Levels
An automated margin call occurs when account equity drops to 80% of used margin. Should losses continue down to the 30% stop-out threshold, the broker sequentially liquidates open market positions to protect against compounding deficits.
Risk Management Tools
Negative balance protection applies automatically to all client accounts, ensuring account equity resets to $0.00 if unexpected market gaps cause a deficit. Standard stop-loss and take-profit orders are available directly within MT5, though guaranteed stop-loss orders are not supported.
Deposits and Withdrawals
4.1/5How to Fund Your Account
Funding options include Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Skrill, Neteller, Klarna, Giropay, UnionPay, WebMoney, QIWI, and international bank wire transfers. Digital currency transfers are also accepted via Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple, and Bitcoin Cash. Accounts can be opened in EUR, USD, or GBP, with an initial deposit requirement of $500 for the Standard tier. Card payments generally credit within 30 minutes, whereas wire transfers take up to 24 hours. The broker charges no internal deposit fees on card, e-wallet, or wire transfers exceeding $200.
How Withdrawals Work
Clients request payouts through the web Client Area using their original funding methods, including bank wire, payment cards, Neteller, Skrill, WebMoney, and approved cryptocurrencies. Payout timelines range from 24 hours for crypto transfers, to 1 to 3 business days for e-wallets, and 3 to 7 business days for cards. LegacyFX imposes $0 in internal processing fees on most methods, though bank wire withdrawals below $200 may be subject to administrative charges.

What Customers Say About LegacyFX Support
Client feedback reveals a pronounced split between general technical support and experiences with dedicated account managers. Positive reviews frequently highlight prompt onboarding assistance, helpful account verification guidance, and courteous technical problem-solving from individual staff members.
Conversely, negative reviews often center on assigned account representatives, citing aggressive trading recommendations, persistent requests for additional capital deposits, and administrative hold-ups when trying to complete identity verification or withdraw funds.
"Am Gudoi joel/legacy fx member/really betis number one fun I take this opportunity to thank legacyfx-compliant department For the good customer service ever you provide to your client I also take this opportunity to thank Mr Matthias Slawecki For his kindness and always being there when ever there is need And i thank you to keep the good spirit My God bless you all"
"Awful experience with legacyfx. Hopefully this review can help others stay away from this broker and avoid same situation that I experienced. Awful trade suggestions throughout the whole time. Asked to get specific help with regards to my open running trades and how best to manage them and not once did i get the support requested. No help from account manager and when they eventually do reply it was not support that was requested but another idea to open further trades which made drawdown worse. The only response is to deposit more money and they will tell you safe mode is a great option but tried that using the account manager idea and it was gone within one trade. Crazy spreads at times for some pairs. When I try to withdraw they held it up for weeks by requesting me to send documents to verify my account even though i had done it a number of times previous. Really awful experience from start to finish and they don't care once you get in drawdown you are on your own. Avoid at all costs"
Research, Analysis and Education
4.5/5Market Research
LegacyFX supplies daily market briefs, economic calendars, and fundamental news updates directly through the MT5 interface and its online client dashboard. Market sentiment metrics and analytical charting ideas are integrated with TradingView social features, allowing users to view community-sourced trend analyses and technical chart setups.
Trading Education
Educational materials span multiple formats, providing video courses, platform walkthroughs, downloadable eBooks, live webinars, on-demand video modules, and an extensive glossary of financial terms. These materials focus on market fundamentals, trading mechanics, and technical platform functionality.
Who Is LegacyFX Best For?
Beginners
Novice traders have access to structured multimedia tutorials, demo accounts, and standard negative balance protection. However, the $500 entry deposit and mandatory 0.1-lot minimum trade size create a notably steeper commitment than brokers that support micro-lots and lower account minimums.
Active Traders
Traders running frequent positions get MetaTrader 5 execution and zero commissions on forex, indices, and commodities. The trade-off is that entry-level floating spreads average 1.6 pips on EUR/USD, meaning active trading costs remain elevated unless an account is funded at higher tiers.
Scalpers
Scalping strategies are fully permitted on the platform, but wide entry-tier pricing creates significant friction for rapid trade entries and exits. Achieving spreads narrow enough to scalp comfortably requires substantial capital, such as the $25,000 threshold of the Premium account.
Algorithmic Traders
Developers using MQL5 can build, test, and run Expert Advisors inside the native MT5 terminal. However, the environment lacks external FIX or REST API connectivity, and LegacyFX does not provide bundled VPS hosting to keep automated systems running continuously.
Experienced Traders
Traders with substantial capital can negotiate leverage up to 1:200 and access lower floating spreads on VIP accounts. That said, those seeking proprietary institutional software or direct market access (DMA) will be limited to standard market-maker execution on MT5.

Our Review Methodology
We assess brokers using our methodology, which combines our own data, broker documentation, regulatory records, pricing information, platform analysis, account information, and third-party customer feedback where specifically required. We evaluate areas including safety, trading costs, platforms, market range, accounts, leverage, deposits and withdrawals, customer service, research, education, and suitability for different trading styles. Where possible, important factual claims are checked against primary sources and dated because broker conditions can change.
Our Verdict on LegacyFX
LegacyFX centers its offering on MetaTrader 5, pairing multi-asset CFD coverage with negative balance protection, free electronic funding methods, and comprehensive educational archives. Traders looking for standard discretionary setups or native MT5 copy trading will find the tools accessible, supported by integrated daily technical and fundamental research feeds.
Account parameters, however, present notable hurdles for casual and algorithmic traders alike. The $500 minimum deposit and 0.1-lot minimum trade size shut out micro-lot strategies, while entry-level spreads averaging 1.6 pips on EUR/USD mean competitive pricing requires funding tiers of $10,000 or above. With automated infrastructure limited by the lack of direct API access and in-house VPS hosting, and with offshore accounts in Mauritius operating without investor compensation protection, traders need to weigh these costs and regulatory differences against their capital requirements.
